End of Third Week at Swedish

Stella has been a busy little girl and has been eating and gaining more weight. She now officially weighs 4 pounds and 13.3 ounces! She seems like a determined little girl. Stella was busy this week with lots of visitors, including Amy, Max and Hellai. No other news to report except she is progressing and doing well. Hey, no news is good news!

Third Week at Swedish

So far this week has been a busy one for little Stella. We're pretty sure she's determined to come home because she is already taking almost half her feedings from a bottle rather than via gavage (tube through her nose into her stomach). All the nurses say that most babies don't "nipple" (eat from a bottle) until 34 weeks and she isn't even 34 weeks yet! Mom and dad are very proud to say the least. Stella seems like a calm baby--mostly sleeping which is good. She wakes up every 3 hours around her "care" times--this is when she gets her temperature taken, diaper changed, vitals checked and gets fed. This weekend Stella got a suprise visit and was happy to meet her Grandma Suz.

Second Week at Swedish

This week Stella was moved from the NICU to the Infant Special Care Unit (ISCU). The doctors say she is doing as well as can be expected for a baby her age.

First week at Swedish

Stella Madison decided to surprise the world with her entrance 2 months early, on May 8th. Weighing only 3 pounds, 10 ounces, she will be staying in the hospital until she gets a bit stronger and bigger. Here are a couple of shots from the first week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Swedish Medical Center.
